Michael Swain retired as a Detective 1st Grade from the NYPD after almost 21 years of service. Mike began his career with the NYPD in the South Bronx, with assignments that included street narcotics, anti-crime, and robbery investigation. Once promoted to detective, his primary investigative responsibilities were grand larceny, robbery and homicide. As a decorated detective he successfully developed and implemented methods to identify crime trends and patterns, a precursor to the NYPD’s vaunted COMPSTAT process to track crime. His special assignments included dignitary protection of foreign heads of state visiting the United Nations. After retiring from the NYPD, Mike became a licensed Private Investigator and started his own company. An experienced law enforcement professional, Mike specializes in criminal and civil investigations, safety and security consulting, and litigation support. He has provided security, background checks and investigative work for Fortune 500 companies, and investigated thousands of mortgage frauds during the financial crisis from 2007-2010. Mike is currently responsible for safety consulting operations at a 6,000-person multi-use venue in New York. He manages a team of former NYPD and FDNY personnel that provide safety consulting services at that location. He also provides oversight and training to hundreds of security guards that have been contracted to the venue. Mike maintains a wide array of contacts in local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies as well as with private investigative and security firms. He has a B.S. from John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
William Stanton is a widely recognized and highly respected expert in the field of safety and security. As a Private Investigator and security consultant to major television news shows, Bill has more than 35 years experience in safety, investigations and law enforcement. Bill began his career as an officer with the NYPD, but was forced to retire early after being injured in the line of duty. He transitioned quickly to the private sector, where built his reputation specializing in executive protection, as well as safety and security consulting and investigations. He joined forces with legendary former NYPD Deputy Police Commissioner Jack Maple to form Stanton and Maple Protection, Investigation, and Crisis Management. Bill’s colorful reputation, extraordinary celebrity, law enforcement and business relationships, along with his investigative work, landed him on the cover of New York Magazine. His in-depth experience, dynamic personality, and tireless commitment have established Bill as a leading spokesperson on the topics of safety and security. Bill has co-authored both fiction and non-fiction books including the novel Badge of Evil and the non-fiction guide Prepared not Scared. He has been the safety and security contributor on NBC News, The Today Show, ABC News, and Good Morning America. Bill also regularly appears on Dr. Oz, Rachel Ray, Wendy Williams and major news networks including Fox News, CNN, MSNBC and Telemundo.
Phil Houston is a nationally recognized authority on deception detection critical interviewing, and elicitation. His 25-year career with the Central Intelligence Agency was highlighted by his service as a senior member of the Office of Security. In that capacity he conducted thousands of interviews and interrogations for the CIA and other federal agencies, both as an investigator and as a polygraph examiner. He is credited with developing a detection of deception methodology currently employed throughout the U.S. intelligence and federal law enforcement communities. The scope of Phil’s work has covered criminal activity, personnel security, and key national security matters, including counterintelligence and counter- terrorism. The fact that many of his interviews were conducted in foreign countries, coupled with six years of residence overseas, has given him unique insight and extensive experience in dealing with foreign cultures, particularly in the Far East.
